The California Rosemaling Association
(CRA) started in 1987, and now has aproximately one hundred
fifty members. Members include expert and beginner
painters, all with a love of Rosemaling.
CRA's largest function is the annual
Convention and Business Meeting held each fall. The Convention
features classes with well-known Rosemaling teachers such as
American Gold Medal Winners and teachers from Norway. Besides
the classes, the Convention offers members the opportunity to
meet with one another, share ideas, learn about opportunities to
study, teach and sell Rosemalling.
CRA publishes the "California Rosemaler"
four times a year. The newsletter features color pictures of
Rosemaling often showcasing a museum piece or private collection
piece. The newsletter also contains various articles of
interest to rosemalers, plus information on meetings,
conventions, craft fairs, and Scandinavian events.
Many of the
CRA members are available to demonstrate and lecture, as well as
teach classes.
